After helping bride-to-be Laura and her fiancé Cody with their engagement party, we were delighted when her and her bridesmaids recruited us to assist with the upcoming bachelorette party. The engagement party was a blast, so we knew the bachelorette party needed to be just as much fun, if not more fun. Since the festivities would be taking place in the middle of summer and Laura grew up on the lake we figured what better place for the party than on the water! And so, Laura’s Last Sail before the Veil was born.
As soon as we had our theme established it was anchors away and planning began. The nautical theme was a dream come true to work with as there were so many ideas and activities we were able to envision.
The venue chosen was a cabin on Eagle Lake where we the ladies could have a riot both on and off the water. Supplies were bought, crafts were made and activities were planned over the months leading up to the bachelorette party. Eventually it was time to batten down the hatches and prepare the cabin for the ladies to come aboard.
The first evening of the two day celebration was spent combating dehydration from the hot sun at the Thirst Aid Station, spontaneous dance parties, bachelorette party games, and late night swims. In the morning after a dipping into the “Emergen-SEA Recovery Kits”, the captain and crew set sail on Eagle Lake where they soaked up the summer sun surrounded by nothing but water and islands.
They reminisced with the future bride and created new memories playing Beach Ball Roulette. It’s a simple game of throwing and catching, but you have to be warry of where your hand lands because it may mean it’s your turn to walk to plank. However if you’re lucky, your hand may land on something enjoyable, such as share a funny story about the bride. The final evening was one of the highlights of the celebration as the ladies played “Slip & Flip”. For those who are unfamiliar with this game, it’s time to get familiar. It’s the perfect combination of a favourite childhood activity and favourite party game; It’s Slip & Slide meets Flip Cup. What could be better than that?!
With a little help from Absolutely, this bride tribe sure knew how to rock the boat. If the stories we were told and the photos shared with us are any indication of the crew’s enjoyment, we’re sure these ladies will never forget those “nauti” two days at Laura’s Last Sail before the Veil!
